We are starting small with an office in a new co-working space, Industrious, but we believe there are continued opportunities for growth. Sparkbox has been a hybrid (co-located and distributed) company for several years now, but this is the first time we have opened an office outside our beloved Dayton, Ohio. Over the last seven months, we have hired three people who live in Pittsburgh, and giving them a shared space to collaborate felt right. Last Monday marked a fairly special day in our six-year relationship with Pittsburgh: Sparkbox officially opened an office there. One of our favorite restaurants, Gaucho, has become known around the office as “The Meat Hut” and is a must-visit whenever we are in town. From attending conferences, visiting the local Refresh Group, and forming new business relationships, we’ve come to know the city quite well. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to make many trips to Pittsburgh. While running our workshop in Pittsburgh, we learned an important lesson: Pittsburgh does not consider itself part of the Midwest. On the list of cities was Columbus, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, and Pittsburgh. Since we targeted nearby cities, we decided to call it the Midwest Tour. So in 2011, we decided to take our newly created full-day workshop “ Build Responsively” on the road and meet new friends in the surrounding states. We'll close things out by sharing techniques for integrating testing into your team's existing workflow and answer specific questions from attendees throughout the day.At Sparkbox, we love to learn and share our learnings-we also love to make new friends. We'll talk about available testing tools first and then intermingle our discussions with hands on exercises. And don't worry-we'll talk about selling the concept to your team back home and gradually work it into your process. Prepare to receive the tools and techniques to build solid, tested frontend code. We’ll also talk about what you should and shouldn't test, and get our hands dirty with. Together we will examine the pain points of developing without tests and look at some of our real-world examples. We expect a lot from modern web applications (many run entirely in the browser), but we’re rarely writing tests to verify that our high expectations are met.Ĭome explore the magical world of Frontend Testing with the Sparkbox team. Optional - Docker, git, GitHub account, circleCI account, CodeClimate account, divshot account.įrontend projects are becoming more and more complex, pushing greater rules and requirements into the browser.
